• Visitors to the model train displays at the Big Walnut Community Trail (168 S. Vernon St., Sunbury) can be entered in a drawing for a model railroad set. Purchase tickets during open houses held by the Model Railroaders of Delaware County. Remaining open houses are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12, and Dec. 3; and from noon-4 p.m. Nov. 13 and Dec. 4. Tickets are $1. Proceeds allow the model railroaders to continue to expand the display.

• “Creature Feature: Reptiles of Ohio,” 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4. Now is your chance to get over your fear of snakes and learn about Ohio reptiles. We’ll meet some live native Ohio reptiles and learn how they survive during the long, cold winter. All ages. Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road.

• “Holiday Terrarium,” 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5. A parks volunteer will show how to create a special terrarium to serve as a holiday centerpiece or to give as a gift. Fee: $15. • “Fur and Feathers,” 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6. Drop by Char-Mar Ridge Preserve’s new wildlife blind and peer through our spotting scopes to view waterfowl, or touch the fur of beaver and muskrat, which might be seen around the pond. All ages. • Preschool Park Pals: Terrific Turkey, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, ages 4-5. Gobble, gobble! Our favorite feathered friend will be the topic of this month’s discovery. • Drop-In Discovery: Turkey Talk, 1 to 4:30 p.m., all ages. Saturday, Nov. 12. Don’t know the difference between a Tom and a hen, a Jake or a Jenny? Do wild turkeys fly? Get answers to this turkey trivia and amaze friends and family. Deer Haven Preserve, 4183 Liberty Road.

• Follow that Sign, 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13, ages 9 and up. Deer and other animals leave crisscross trails through the woods. Let’s follow these paths and see where they lead us. This hike will be on- and off-trail through woods and fields. Wear sturdy footwear. Gallant Woods Preserve, 2151 Buttermilk Hill Road.
