Delaware podiatrist Jane Graebner has stepped into the leading role for the Delaware County Diabetes Association.

She replaces Barb Wolfe, who led the organization for 12 years.

The association for 30 years has promoted diabetes education and awareness to county residents.

Graebner, who owns the Foot & Ankle Wellness Center, 1871 W. William St., Delaware, said in a news release that the association hopes to expand People In Need's assistance to diabetics to include supplies such as glucometers, testing strips, diabetic footwear and orthotics.

Graebner held her first organizational meeting Oct. 28. The association is seeking board members as well as "Friends of DCDA," volunteers willing to promote the organization at health fairs and other events.

The Foot & Ankle Wellness Center has for two years organized the Sweet Feat 5K Walk; going forward, according to the news release, proceeds from the 5K will benefit the DCDA. For more information visit SweetFeat.org.

The DCDA will award partial scholarships to juvenile diabetic county residents to attend Camp Hamwi.
