Delaware Christian School girls basketball coach Jackie Boggs is hoping her players will settle down and focus on themselves now.

The Eagles defeated host Patriot Prep Academy 45-40 on Dec. 19, giving Boggs her 200th career victory.

"It was fun and exciting, but now maybe we can move on and take steps toward improving our play the rest of the season," said Boggs, who is in her 11th season leading the Eagles. "The girls were so excited. I think it meant more to them than it did me, honestly.

"It's a nice achievement, but what it means to me is that the girls I've coached have listened to me and tried to do the things we work on in practices. I have coached some very talented players."

Boggs coached three years at North Union and two at Marysville before arriving at Delaware Christian. Many of her former players were in attendance for the milestone victory.

"That's why I coach, not for the wins, but for the relationships and helping mold them into great people who strive for success but can learn life lessons with or without winning," Boggs said.

Senior post player Erin McCullough had 13 points against Patriot Prep Academy and senior guard Elizabeth Blackburn scored 12.

The Eagles improved to 6-4 overall with a 52-10 win over Cristo Rey Columbus on Dec. 21. They will play Saturday, Jan. 2, at Fisher Catholic before returning to MOCAL action Jan. 8 at home against Granville Christian.

Delaware Christian is 4-1 in the MOCAL.

Standley had 12 points and Gaudio and junior guard Andrew Dunnavant both scored seven in a 72-50 loss to Patriot Prep Academy on Dec. 19.
