The Delaware Christian School baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat 15th-seeded Granville Christian 4-3 in the first round of the Division IV district tournament May 12.

The Delaware Christian School baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat 15th-seeded Granville Christian 4-3 in the first round of the Division IV district tournament May 12.

The 14th-seeded Eagles played fourth-seeded Danville in the second round May 13, with the winner advancing to play sixth-seeded Tree of Life in a district semifinal Monday, May 16, at Dublin Coffman.

The semifinal winner plays top-seeded Fisher Catholic, fifth-seeded East Knox or 18th-seeded Harvest Prep in a district final Wednesday, May 18, at Beavers Field in Lancaster. The district champion advances to a regional semifinal May 26.

Delaware Christian trailed Granville Christian 3-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. The Eagles tied the game on an RBI single by Seth Standley and Adam Standley scored the winning run on a passed ball.

Seth Standley had two of the Eagles' five hits. Ryan Manny pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, four walks and two earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Season concludes for softball team

The softball team lost to top-seeded Danville 12-0 in five innings in the second round of the Division IV district tournament May 12 to finish 10-9.

The ninth-seeded Eagles had advanced by beating 12th-seeded Wellington 11-0 in five innings in the first round May 11.

Against Wellington, Madie Morgan pitched a two-hitter and the Eagles totaled 14 hits, scoring in every inning except the third.
