Four were honored with the "Best of the Fest" award during last week's annual Dublin Irish Festival meeting.

Four were honored with the "Best of the Fest" award during last week's annual Dublin Irish Festival meeting.

The awards, given to volunteers who distinguish themselves with their dedication to the Dublin Irish Festival, are based on nominations from peers, Dublin city staff and festival guests.

Bill Arehart, a longtime volunteer in the Celtic Canine Area and board chair for the animal exhibits committee, was given the leadership award.

The adult event award went to Willie Ehrlich, a communications committee member who gathers surveys and is a media liaison during the festival.

Mitchell Graham received the youth event award for his work at the festival, tutoring at Deer Run Elementary school and buddy walks for the Down Syndrome Association of America.

The family award went to the Robert VanVliet family. According to information from the city, the VanVliet family of Bob, Mara, Elisabeth, Stephanie, Laura and Rebecca has volunteered at the festival for eight years. The family also volunteers for other city events, including the Independence Day celebration.
