The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium will solicit the public for a name for its new reticulated python.

Using its Facebook page, the zoo will take name suggestions for its newest addition from Dec. 1 to midnight Dec. 7. Three finalists will be chosen and posted on the zoo's Facebook page Dec. 10. Voting on the finalists will run through 9 a.m. Dec. 17.

The person who suggests the winning name will receive four individual Gold memberships to the zoo, which include Zoombezi Bay admission, for 2011.

The reticulated python came to the zoo two weeks ago and is the daughter of the zoo's last python, Fluffy, who died in October.

"Since her arrival she has been known as Fluffy's daughter," Columbus Zoo president and CEO Dale Schmidt said in a release. "We are asking the many fans of Fluffy to help us choose a suitable name for her offspring."
