Five arrests were made between 9 p.m. April 15 and 2 a.m. April 16, when the Dublin police, Franklin County DUI Task Force and Franklin County Sheriff's Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint on West Bridge Street.

Five arrests were made between 9 p.m. April 15 and 2 a.m. April 16, when the Dublin police, Franklin County DUI Task Force and Franklin County Sheriff's Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint on West Bridge Street.

According to information from Dublin, 347 vehicles were checked at the sobriety stop on West Bridge, east of Post Road.

"This was the first checkpoint Dublin has conducted since 1996," Lt. John DeJarnette, operations bureau commander, said in a news release. "Our department's priority is to keep people who have been drinking off the roadways. Participating in a DUI checkpoint is one of many strategies we use to reduce drinking and driving"

At the checkpoint, five DUI arrests were made, 13 citations were issued, two misdemeanor warrant arrests were made and one misdemeanor narcotics arrest was made.
