The Shier Rings and Cosgray Road roundabout has earned Dublin recognition.

The American Society of Highway Engineers gave the new roundabout one of the 2013 Most Outstanding Highway Project awards for projects under $3 million.

The roundabout was installed at the high crash intersection and includes sustainable features, a complex drainage system and innovative design.

"In the city of Dublin, we use roundabouts as a safe and innovative solution for dangerous intersections," Director of Engineering Paul Hammersmith said in a news release from the city.

"This roundabout not only increases public safety, but also reflects the city of Dublin's goal of sustainability."

The construction of the roundabout began in July 2012, and was completed in November 2012.
