Traffic will be flowing through the intersection of Riverside Drive and state Route 161 as a roundabout is constructed and Riverside Drive is realigned, but changes to traffic patterns are coming.

Starting the week of June 22, north and southbound traffic on Riverside Drive will use the Riverside Drive bypass.

The bypass is currently closed as construction crews widen the lanes that go under the state Route 161 bridge to handle traffic during construction that is expected to last through next year.

Traffic will be maintained in all four directions during the construction of the roundabout, but all turns will be prohibited, allowing drivers to only go straight through the intersection.

Turns will be prohibited at the intersection through the duration of the roundabout construction, which is expected to last until September 2016.

The realignment of Riverside Drive is planned first and will run from June to January, 2016.

The realignment will move the road to the east, making room for a planned riverside park.

The north side of the roundabout is slated for construction from January to April 2016 with the south side following from April to June 2016.

More work on the Riverside Drive alignment is expected next summer from June to August with more Riverside Drive bypass work to follow from September to October 2016.

Dates are subject to change depending on weather or work being completed before anticipated.
