The Dublin Jerome High School hockey team lost to Lakewood St. Edward 2-0 in a state semifinal March 12 at Nationwide Arena.

Colin Price scored 52 seconds into the game for St. Edward, which improved to 26-9-4. Stephen O'Sullivan scored 5:02 later for the Eagles, who were making their record 21st state tournament appearance.

St. Edward, which has won a record 11 state titles, will play Toledo St. Francis in the final March 13 at Nationwide Arena.

Jerome, which finished 29-8-2 overall after making its first state tournament appearance, failed to score despite outshooting St. Edward 29-16. The Celtics were on the power play for nine of the game's first 20 minutes.

"Our power play scored about 27 percent of the time this season, but St. Edward did a good job of playing a man down," Jerome coach Pat Murphy said. "Their defense did a good job of preventing our guys without the puck from getting to the net. When we did get someone to the net, their goaltender froze the puck, so we didn't have any chances to score on rebounds.

"We outshot them nearly 2-for-1 for the game, but we just couldn't get the puck past their goalie, and you aren't going to win many games when you score zero goals."
