The Dublin Scioto High School boys volleyball team was upset by seventh-seeded and host Olentangy 22-25, 29-27, 25-15, 27-25 in the first round of the Division I East Region tournament May 16.

The fourth-seeded Irish finished 15-6.

"It was a hard-fought battle and pretty close games throughout," coach Wayne Tsai said. "Give credit to Olentangy. They're a good team and closed it out when they needed to.

"Our whole team played really hard. They never gave up even though we were up against it. It was a tough matchup for us, but they accepted the challenge. The seniors really did a great job of motivating the group and keeping focus throughout the tournament process."

Shamrocks fall to Lions in first round

Coffman lost to fifth-seeded Gahanna 26-24, 24-26, 17-25, 25-14, 15-11 in the first round of the Division I East Region tournament May 16 at Olentangy Liberty.

The eighth-seeded Shamrocks finished 13-12.

Celtics ousted from tourney by Wildcats

Jerome lost to ninth-seeded Westerville South 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 in the first round of the Division I East Region tournament May 15 at Hilliard Darby.

The 11th-seeded Celtics finished 9-12.
