It will be the second consecutive state appearance for the Shamrocks, who placed ninth (207 points) of 16 teams last year behind champion Mason (121).

Coffman, which won the state title in 2011, advanced by placing fourth (153) in the 16-team regional meet Oct. 31 at Pickerington North. The Shamrocks edged fifth-place Olentangy Liberty (154) for the final qualifying position. Also advancing were Watkins Memorial (113), Thomas Worthington (116) and Hilliard Darby (149). The top four teams and top 16 individuals advanced to state.

Lucas Bons led Coffman by placing eighth of 123 runners in 15 minutes, 50.2 seconds. Watkins Memorial's Andrew Jordan (15:29.1) won the regional title.

Also competing for the Shamrocks were Simon Alford (21st, 16:22.6), John Graf (39th, 16:41.9), Tommy Alford (56th, 16:55.1), Cody Null (60th, 16:57.5), Tyndale Hannan (83rd, 17:22.3) and Ryan Bosworth (87th, 17:26).

The girls team will be represented at state by Delaney Marsalek, who placed 12th (18:57.3) of 121 runners at regional as Hilliard Davidson's India Johnson (17:58.1) won.

Coffman finished 13th (266) behind state-qualifiers Granville (93), Liberty (94), Watkins Memorial (104) and Davidson (112).

Also competing for the Shamrocks were Sana Qamar (36th, 19:51.4), Ellie Weber (75th, 20:37.3), Janelle Gans (86th, 20:49.8), Leah Jablonski (90th, 20:52), Melissa Mangelson (94th, 21:01) and Brittany Stritar (112th, 22:03.6).

Twins advance to state for Celtics

The Davis twins advanced to state as individuals for the Jerome boys and girls teams, both placing fourth in their respective Division I regional races.

Carly Davis finished in 18:24.7 as the girls team placed sixth (165), and Bradley Davis finished in 15:42.8 as the boys team placed ninth (237).

Carly Davis will be making her third state appearance. She placed eighth (18:31.55) last season after finishing 22nd (19:01.06) in 2013.

Tiffany Hill (17th, 19:16.3) just missed advancing, as she was edged by Olentangy's Lex Brookshire (16th, 19:13.3) for the final qualifying spot.

Also competing for the girls team were Katherine Willette (28th, 19:42.3), Jessica Blake (68th, 20:28.4), Halle Bentley (69th, 20:29.1), Emily Chen (102nd, 21:12) and Rachel Ferguson (110th, 21:58.9).

Also running for the boys were Kellen Posacki (23rd, 16:26.3), Adam Erikson (72nd, 17:14.1), Ryan Gartner (86th, 17:24.5), Alex Sanders (92nd, 17:29.9), Jeremy Coad (103rd, 17:48.1) and Shashank Sawant (110th, 18:16.6).

Irish fall short in quest for state

The Scioto boys and girls teams each had one individual competing in the Division I regional meet, but neither advanced to state.

Cesar Arellano finished 57th (16:55.1) in the boys race and Meredith Billman was 56th (20:15.5) in the girls race.
