The Gahanna Planning Commission on July 27 approved plans for a 9,360-square-foot office/warehouse to be built in the office, commerce and technology district in the Eastgate industrial area.

Columbia Gas will have about 45 new employees based at the facility, said Steve Pagura, owner of the Pagura Co., the company that's developing the property and that will lease the building to Columbia.

Zoning administrator Bonnie Gard said a fleet for Columbia Gas would be housed at Eastgate, where workers will report in the morning and pick up their commercial vehicles to work in the field.
"There will be no gas storage or tanks that would be harmful in any way," she said.

Pagura told ThisWeek construction should begin in about two weeks on the warehouse at 1610 Eastgate Parkway, with Columbia Gas moved in by March 2012.
