Area walkers and runners can test their lungs to raise money for lung cancer research during the second annual LUNGevity 5K Walk and Run, to be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at North Bank Park, 311 W. Long St.

The event is being held in the memory of photographer Frank Learner. Registration begins at 11 a.m. The timed 5K run begins at noon, and untimed 5K and 1K walks will begin at 1 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit lung cancer research.

A separate balloon launch will benefit the Mary Anne Kirkby Living with Lung Cancer Fund at Ohio State's James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.

The Ohio Statehouse 150th Birthday Celebration Open House and Capitol Artists Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.

In addition to the artists fair, activities will include a cake-cutting ceremony, an unveiling of the Ohio Civil War governors portraits, and tours of the Statehouse.

The artists fair will feature glass, jewelry, pottery and paintings, as well as samplings of food and wine from Ohio Proud Food and the Ohio Grape Industry Committee.

The cake will be cut in the Rotunda at noon. This event is free and open to the public.

All those in attendance will be invited to pose for an official commemorative photo. Visitors may also sign a large birthday card, which will become part of the Statehouse archive collection.

Ohioans are also invited to send birthday greetings. Greetings must be mailed by Nov. 8 to Ohio Statehouse 150th Birthday, Ohio Statehouse, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus 43215. Digital greetings may be emailed to 150@csrab.state. oh.us.

Each submitted birthday greeting will become part of the permanent collection of the Ohio Statehouse. Creativity is encouraged.

Honor Flight Columbus will host its fourth annual reunion from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at Veterans Memorial, 300 W. Broad St.

The public is welcome to attend and salute the lives and contributions of World War II veterans.
