Building contractors and Gahanna residents can apply online for their annual home improvement, roofing, signs, fences, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and gas piping contractor registrations.

Building contractors and Gahanna residents can apply online for their annual home improvement, roofing, signs, fences, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and gas piping contractor registrations.

"We are excited to launch the first phase of this project," said Rob Priestas, Gahanna city engineer. "The new software will enhance customer service for our residents and contractors by allowing them the option to apply online instead of having to apply in person."

The new software was scheduled to go live Dec. 21.

In addition to improving the customer experience, Priestas said, the new platform will streamline the permit review process and assist staff with improving the efficiency of processing applications and requests.

"Earlier this year, we relocated building and zoning (services) to the first floor of City Hall, where it became a division of the service department to better serve the needs of our customers," said Tom Kneeland, mayor. "This new online platform is the next phase in our goal to provide the high level of customer service that our citizens have come to expect."

The second phase of the software project is expected to launch by the end of January. It will allow residents and contractors to apply, pay for and obtain permits and registrations online.

Contractors wishing to obtain registration as a water and sewer installer must still contact the utility division at 614-342-4440 to apply for their registrations.
