Preschoolers: Creek Adventures, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday at the naturalist's office. Wade in the creek and discover who lives there.

A Prairie Morn, 9 a.m. Saturday at the naturalist's office. Hike through the tall grass prairie to see flowers and wildlife.

Firefly Fascination, 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Valley bulletin board. Call in fireflies using special lights on this half-mile hike.

Open 'Til Midnight, Saturday at the Pleasant Valley bulletin board, 9137 state Route 62. The Pleasant Valley area will be open until midnight on the last Saturday of the month through September. Enjoy fishing, hiking, stargazing and pet hikes.

Blendon Woods Metro Park

4265 State Route 161 E., Westerville

Just 4 Kids: Grasshoppers, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nature Center for ages 6-12. Catch these jumpy insects and learn how they live. All grasshoppers will be released after the program. Wear long pants.

Dark of the Moon, 9 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Walk the main trail by lantern light and learn what Earth would be like without the moon.

Highbanks Metro Park

Family Theme Day: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Nature Center. Learn about recycling through composting, collecting rainwater, recycling and other activities.

Inniswood Metro Gardens

Sunny Sundays, 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sundays at the Herb Garden entrance. Members of the Herb Society of America Central Ohio Unit will answer visitors' questions.

Summer Children's Program: Insects as Pollinators, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Education Pavilion for ages 8 and younger, accompanied by an adult. Learn about insects and the role they play in pollinating favorite foods.

Prairie Oaks Metro Park

Saturday Late Night Fishing, 8 p.m.-midnight Saturday at Darby Bend Lakes, 2755 Amity Road. Fish Darby Bend Lakes and Beaver Lake at night.

Slate Run Metro Park

1375 state Route 674 N., Canal Winchester

Hot Dogs!, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Buzzard's Roost Picnic Area. Bring your dog for a one-mile walk on the pet trail at Slate Run. After the walk, your dog can take a splash in a water-filled baby pool. Bring towels to dry your dog.

Living Historical Farm

Celebrating 30 Years, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Use a self-guided map to tour the farm and join some activities along the way as the farm celebrates 30 years of being open to the public.

Three Creeks Park

3860 Bixby Road, Groveport

Family Ride Night, 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Confluence Trails bulletin board. Join the park ranger and take a slow-paced bike ride.
