The holiday season will be full of special activities in the Grandview/Marble Cliff community.

The city of Grandview Heights will hold the annual lighting of the community Holiday Tree at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Grandview Center, 1515 Goodale Blvd.

"The tree lighting is always fun. We try to make it an event for families to come and have a fun, festive time," recreation supervisor Marta Durban said.

The evening will include refreshments, a craft activity for youngsters, carol singing and a performance of holiday music by the Tri-Village Dulcimers, Durban said.

During the event, the winners of a holiday coloring contest, co-sponsored by Grandview Parks and Recreation and Members First Credit Union, will be announced, she said.

All entries must be turned in at the parks department office or Members First by noon, Dec. 6.

Winners in each of four age categories will be awarded a $25 savings account certificate.

Youngsters can pick up a picture to color at the parks department office, Members First, Stevenson Elementary or Edison Intermediate/Middle School.

The village of Marble Cliff will hold its annual holiday party for residents and their grandchildren from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, at the Our Lady of Victory Parish Center, 1541 Roxbury Road.

Invitations have been mailed and residents are asked to RSVP by Dec. 1, village fiscal officer Cindy McKay said.

Sandwiches and cookies will be served and Santa will make an appearance, McKay said.

"We're asking residents to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Firefighters for Kids charity," she said.

The city of Grandview Heights and the Grandview Heights Public Library will co-sponsor Santa's visit to the community on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Santa will pay a visit from 11 a.m. to noon at the library, 1685 W. First Ave.

Pictures will be taken of each child with Santa free of charge and the photographs can be picked up at the library beginning Dec. 16.
