After another record-breaking effort last year, organizers of the 11th annual band decal drive are looking to achieve a fundraising milestone again this year.

"We raised $9,400 last year and we certainly are hoping to reach $10,000 this time," said Greg Berning, a co-chair of the drive.

Proceeds of the sale will benefit both the high school and middle school bands, Berning said.

Band members will be going door to door between 6 and 8 p.m. Sunday selling 2011 band decals residents can purchase and display on their home or car windows to show their support for the band.

The date for the annual decal drive was changed to Sunday because several athletic team practices were scheduled on the original night, Berning said.

"We'll be selling the decals for any amount of donation people want to give," he said. "If they want to give $10, $20, $50 or $150, we'll take it."

The band parents group uses the funds raised through the decal drive to help subsidize the cost of band camp, the purchase and upkeep of uniforms and instruments, travel expenses and other costs incurred by the bands, Berning said.

If someone is not at home the evening of the decal drive, an donation envelope will be left to make it convenient to send in a donation, he said.

"Just pop that envelope in the mail and we'll get your decal back to you quickly," Berning said.

Donations can be sent to Grandview Band Parents, P.O. Box 12580 Grandview Heights 43212. Checks should be made payable to the Grandview Band Parents Association.
