A new monthly shopping crawl, Finds on Fifth, will kick off Saturday, Sept. 20.

The event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every third Saturday, will showcase local businesses, shops and restaurants along West Fifth Avenue.

Initially, the event will focus on the area between Grandview Avenue and Wyandotte with its concentration of consignment and specialty stores, with a long-term goal of expanding to all of West Fifth in the 43212 ZIP code.

The 43212 Civic Association, a grassroots nonprofit organization, is coordinating Finds on Fifth.

The organization's mission is to support the "buy local" movement, promote green initiatives and fund civic improvements for the 43212 area, according to association president Tony Lococo.

During each Finds on Fifth event, visitors can walk along the avenue and shop at sidewalk sales, try menu samples and shop special offers from participating merchants.

More information is available on the Finds on Fifth Facebook page, at 5xNW.com and on Twitter at @FindsonFifth.
