Grandview-area students who participated include Mikael Black, Maria Gaeta and August Kamerer.

Students were judged in nine areas of musicianship: scales, cadences, arpeggios, triads, transposition, sight reading, harmonization, ear training and written theory.

* Grandview Heights City School District Chief Academic Officer Jamie Lusher recently received the Friend of Education Award from the Central Region of the Ohio School Boards Association.

Lusher was honored during the association's fall conference in Columbus. The region presents the award to community members with a significant record of supporting public education.

* Kim Herlihy of Grandview Heights recently was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Herlihy, a partner in the Columbus office of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, has a varied litigation practice and trial experience with a focus on commercial litigation. Her membership in the college places her among the top 1 percent of lawyers in the state.

Herlihy received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif.
