holiday events
The city of Grove City will hold several holiday events Friday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 5.

The Winter Lights Christmas Celebration will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in the Town Center. The event will feature horse-drawn carriage rides, traditional carols, live reindeer, an ice sculpture and the official Grove City tree lighting.

Children will be able to create old-time crafts. TWIG 184 will take pictures with Santa Claus for $5, with all proceeds benefiting Nationwide Children's Hospital.

The Winter Lights Christmas Parade will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Park Street Intermediate School.

Nonperishable food, toys and monetary donations will be collected for the Grove City Food Pantry and the Jackson Township Fire Department's Toys for Kids program. In exchange, donors may receive a carriage ride and a free gift (limited to the first 1,000 donors).

Children and families can make Gingerbread Houses from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in the basement of City Hall, 4035 Broadway. The cost is $8 per house, or $10 for non-residents. Pre-registration is required. Call (614) 277-3050. A Christmas home tour will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Celebrate the Christmas spirit while touring some of the most decked-out homes in Grove City. Tickets are $10 per person, or $8 for senior citizens ages 55 and older. Tickets may be purchased at participating homes or at the Sommer House Gallery, 4038 Broadway.

Santa's mailbox to deliver
wish lists to North Pole
The children of Grove City will be able to mail a letter to Santa Claus from Monday, Nov. 23, through Friday, Dec. 4.

Santa's mailbox will be located in front of the Grove City Library, 3360 Park St., for children to drop off wish lists. Parents should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with every letter to ensure a response from Santa.

Classes will allow parents
to shop without the kids
The Grove City Parks and Recreation Department is offering two youth classes catering to busy parents who need a few hours of alone time to prepare for the holidays.

Children will enjoy several hours of engaging activities with trained childcare professionals. Pre-registration is required for all classes.

Parents of children ages 5 to 10 who want to take advantage of Black Friday sales can drop off their children from 4 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, for "Black Friday Without the Kids." The cost is $12 for residents and $14 for non-residents.

Breakfast, snack items and drinks will be provided. Children may attend in their pajamas and may bring a sleeping bag.

"Christmas Shopping Without the Kids" will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. Children ages 5 to 10 can enjoy holiday-themed games, activities and art projects, while parents finish up shopping, decorating or wrapping. The cost is $14 for residents and $16 for non-residents.
