Central Crossing Athletic Boosters, ninth chili cook-off competition, 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at Central Crossing High School, 4500 Big Run South Road. The event will be held in conjunction with the boys' basketball game vs. Marysville. Each Central Crossing sports team will enter chili for judging. Teams also will assemble themed baskets to be raffled. Proceeds will support the Central Crossing athletic program and teams.

Special Olympics Ohio, 2016 Polar Plunge, Feb. 20 at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, 4850 Powell Road, Powell. All money raised by Polar Plunge events will benefit more than 23,000 Special Olympics athletes in Ohio. Participants obtain a minimum of $75 or $50 (students) in pledges and then jump into the Polar Plunge pool. Plungers must be at least 8 years old. Guests will be charged a $10 zoo entry fee. Others can participate through "Too Chicken to Plunge," raising a minimum of $30. All plungers will receive a T-shirt, food and nonalcoholic beverages at a post-event party.
