The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio will sponsor several household hazardous-waste mobile-collection events, including one from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Grove City Service Department, 3262 Ventura Blvd., Grove City.
Standalone drop-off events also are scheduled April 16 at Ashland Chemical in Dublin, June 25 at the Ohio History Center in Columbus and Sept. 10 at the Westerville Service Department. SWACO also provides free disposal services at a permanent drop-off location at 645 E. Eighth Ave., Columbus.
Household hazardous waste materials are unsafe and should not be put in the trash and sent to the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill, according to SWACO.
Residents are encouraged to bring their old lawn chemicals, paint strippers, acids, insecticides and other hazardous chemicals and waste for recycling and environmentally safe disposal.
