Nominations for the 2011 Senior Citizen Hall of Fame are now being accepted. Nominees must be 65 or older, and should exemplify how older people continue to contribute to their community and respond creatively to retirement. Candidates may be nominated posthumously. The deadline for nominations is Aug.1. Additional information and eligibility criteria are available at the senior center and online at www.HilliardOhio.gov.

The AARP Driver Safety Program will be offered from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 2. Learn how to avoid driving hazards. There will not be any tests. Some auto insurance companies offer discounts to those who have completed the class. The class fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Register in advance. Call (614) 876-0747.

Senior residents of Hilliard, Norwich Township and Brown Township are invited to attend a free luncheon and educational session with the Norwich Township firefighters at noon Monday, May 9. Advance registration is required. Space is limited.

A monthly potluck dinner will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12. Cost is $2 per person. Bring a covered dish. Call the senior center for information or to make a reservation.

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) provides free information and other health services to people covered by Medicare. An OSHIIP representative is available at the senior center at 1 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. Contact the center to schedule an appointment.

The Hilliard Caregiver Support Group meets at 9:30 a.m. on the third Friday of each month at the center. The meeting is for caregivers of those with Alzheimer's disease.

The Happiness Club luncheon is held at noon the second Friday of each month. This luncheon is open to all senior citizens, including those who are not members of the center. Advance registration for the luncheon is due by 4 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding; meal price is $4. Enjoy a home-cooked meal and entertainment. Call the senior center to register.

The craft room is open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays. Artists may bring their own drawings or paintings to work on and meet other artists. Free. Bring supplies.

Instructional watercolor classes are offered on Thursday mornings. Scrapbooking is offered Thursday afternoons and sewing is offered Friday afternoons. Contact the center for more information.
