Norwich Township Fire Chief Bob Kaufman recognized three firefighters during a promotion ceremony at the May 21 trustees meeting.

Kaufman announced the promotions of Kris Lanning to lieutenant, Ted Kinzel to battalion chief and Jeff Warren to assistant chief.

Lanning joined the Norwich Township Fire Department in 2000.

Kinzel joined the department in 1993 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2003.

Warren joined the department in 1996. A former lieutenant and captain, Warren was named battalion chief in 2012.

Warren will succeed Bob King, who is retiring July 9 as assistant fire chief.

All promotions are effective June 3.

Warren will work with King between June 3 and his retirement date, Kaufman said.

"These three dedicated servants collectively represent more than 50 years of experience and bring the necessary leadership and commitment this community has come to expect," Kaufman said.

In other business May 21, Norwich Township Administrator Kate Cavanaugh sought orders from trustees to declare three properties in the township as public nuisances for high grass and weeds.

Trustees declared properties in the 6000 block of Renner Road, the 3400 block of Polley Road and the 4000 block of Saturn Drive as public nuisances, allowing the township to cut the grass and assess the charge for the labor as a tax lien on the property.
