Hilliard school board members approved one permanent improvement but rejected another June 8.

Board members authorized business director Cliff Hetzel to contract with Tremco to replace the roof at Brown Elementary School.

The contract amount is $376,810.

Board members rejected a paving project.

Only one contractor, Decker Construction, submitted a bid to repave parking lots at Darby Creek Elementary School.

The district's estimate for the project was $79,360 and the bid from Decker Construction was $97,431.

Because the bid was more than 20 percent higher than the estimate, the Ohio Revised Code prohibits the district from awarding the bid.

"(Darby Creek) won't be repaved this year," Hetzel said.

Board members also renewed a one-year contract with the Aramark Corp. to continue providing food services to the district.

The cost of each meal next school year will be 18.7 cents, an increase of about 2 percent from last year's per-meal price of 18.24 cents, Hetzel said.

The total cost to the district will depend on the number of students served, Hetzel said.

Board members also approved a contract renewal for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for property, liability and fleet insurance from July 1 to June 30, 2016, for a premium of $312,334.
