Sawmill Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 3 at the Sawmill Wetlands State Wildlife Education Area, 2674 Sawmill Place Blvd., Columbus. A naturalist from the Ohio Wildlife Center's education department will teach about hawks. The area also has a butterfly nursery where attendees can see them being raised. Wild Birds Unlimited will lead birding tours on the boardwalk. Representatives from Ohio History Connection and Worthington Libraries will offer information on programs and services. Run to Remember 5K, 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at Heritage Middle School, 5670 Scioto Darby Road. The race will conclude at Hilliard's First Responders Park on the southeast corner of Main and Center streets, where participants will celebrate first responders and the memory of those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Proceeds benefit the family of officer Sean Johnson, who died in the line of duty in May. The cost to register is $30. To register, visit

Kick Off event, 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at Northwest United Methodist Church, 5200 Riverside Drive, Columbus. Food trucks will be available or attendees may bring a picnic lunch. The band Agent 99 will perform music from the 1970s at 5 p.m. and the Ohio State University alumni band will perform favorites at 6:15 p.m. The event also will feature free activities for children and a dunk tank.
