Hilliard Davidson High School football fans have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Coach Brian White's Wildcats (10-1) claimed the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division I, Region 3 championship Nov. 21 with a 22-7 victory over rival Dublin Coffman.

The win avenged Davidson's only loss of the season -- a 10-7 setback on Oct. 16. Since that loss the Wildcats have reeled off five consecutive victories, giving up a total of only 21 points. In those five wins, no team has scored more than a touchdown against the Wildcats.

However, there is little time to celebrate. Forty-eight hours after Thanksgiving dinner, Davidson plays in a state semifinal for the second time in four seasons.

The last time the Wildcats appeared in the state semifinals they won the Division I state championship in 2006.

The Wildcats meet Cincinnati Elder (10-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday in Dayton Welcome Stadium.

The Panthers advanced with a 28-21 win over Cincinnati Anderson.

Pre-sale tickets for the state semifinal will be available in the athletics office Friday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $8. Tickets will be $10 at the gate. Hilliard Davidson retains a percentage of the pre-sale tickets sold at the school.
