Jeff Pontius recently was selected as the new girls golf coach for Hilliard Darby High School, according to athletics director Chad Schulte.

Pontius takes over for Allison Kruder, who coached the program the last four seasons before stepping down during the offseason.

Pontius is a 2003 Darby graduate who has been inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. He was the OCC-Cardinal Division Player of the Year in 2002 and the OCC-Ohio Player of the Year in 2003. Pontius also was a three-time district qualifier who went on to play for Wright State University.

"Obviously Jeff has a great knowledge of the game after going on to the college ranks," Schulte said. "He's a fairly young individual with a strong drive and I know he's planning to recruit heavily down at the middle school."
