The Works: Center for History, Art & Technology will host a Veterans Day Salute on Saturday, Nov. 12. Visitors will receive free museum admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A Veterans Day Salute program will begin at 2 p.m.

During the program, the winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded for the Licking County Medal of Honor Essay Contest.

The contest gave fourth- and eighth-grade Licking County students the opportunity to write a 500-word essay about one Medal of Honor recipient from the county. A panel of judges will review all the essays and select one winner from each grade level. Winners will read their essays aloud and receive a Gettysburg prize package worth $500 that includes a two-night hotel stay in Gettysburg, Pa., a $120 gas card, a three-hour private tour of the battlefield and National Cemetery and a Longaberger picnic basket filled with road trip treats compliments of The Works, the Greater Licking Counting Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Licking County Historical Society.
