A woman's mail was reportedly stolen by a young girl on a purple bicycle at 1:19 p.m. Aug. 5 near the 200 block of Stone hedge Row Drive.

A woman's mail was reportedly stolen by a young girl on a purple bicycle at 1:19 p.m. Aug. 5 near the 200 block of Stone hedge Row Drive.

The owner of the mailbox told Johnstown police she saw the girl reach into her mailbox and take out an envelope.

Police located the girl and the envelop was found in the bottom of her backpack according to reports.

The envelope contained a check and the girl told police she planned on using the check's account numbers to purchase items online.

Reports said the victim chose not to press charges and said she will speak with the girl's parents instead.

In other recent Johnston Police Department incident reports:

* A woman reported items were stolen from her apartment at 4:42 p.m. Aug. 4 in the 200 block of Briarwood Drive.

She told police she believes someone has entered her apartment because she has noticed muddy footprints on the carpet and small items have gone missing within the past three to four months.

The woman contacted the apartment manager to get her locks changed and police reported they did not find any signs of forced entry.

* A woman told police her husband had $200 stolen by his nephew at 2:52 p.m. Aug. 9 in the 100 block of Payne Street. The nephew later admitted to taking the money.

* A Johnstown man reported hearing shots fired at 3:05 p.m. on Aug. 7 near Williams Street and College Avenue.

A Monroe Township firefighter later witnessed teenagers in a burgundy pickup truck throwing fireworks out of a vehicle window, reports said.

* A tree fell on a powerline at 4:59 p.m. Aug. 10 in the 30 block of East Pratt Street.

Representatives from AEP and a tree service company were called to the scene and police temporarily put up barricades while the situation was addressed.

* A caller told her gold Pontiac had been struck by another vehicle at 9:55 a.m. Aug. 9 near the 200 block of Sunset Drive.

* A teenage girl reportedly held a party while her parents were not present at 12:21 a.m. Aug. 9 near the 400 block of Cole Drive.
