Denison University will present the Singer's Theatre Workshop performance of "Venus and Adonis" at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, in Burke Recital Hall, 240 W. Broadway.

Denison University will present the Singer's Theatre Workshop performance of "Venus and Adonis" at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, in Burke Recital Hall, 240 W. Broadway.

The one-hour opera is free and open to the public.

"Venus and Adonis," composed in 1683 and based on the classical myth, is directed by Belinda Andrews-Smith. The workshop performances will be accompanied by a faculty string quartet, harpsichord and flutes. The set was created by the Emmy Award-winning designer Chris Clapp. Costume Specialists provided the costumes.

The Denison University orchestra, concert choir and Chamber Singers will present Handel's "Messiah" at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, in Swasey Chapel, 200 Chapel Drive.

The program is free and open to the public.

The orchestra is conducted by Andy Carlson. Wei Cheng directs both the concert choir and the Chamber Singers.
