Dawes Arboretum will sponsor a daylong trip to Wheeling, W.Va.'s Oglebay Resort from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5. The cost of the trip is $85 per person.

The Winter Festival of Lights Dinner Show Extravaganza includes tours of the Mansion Museum and the Oglebay Institute Glass Museum, whose Sweeney Punch Bowl is the largest piece of cut lead crystal ever made.

Time will be allowed for browsing the Hilltop Shops and Gardens before a trip to the Good Zoo Winter Fantasy. After the Ron Retzer Dinner Show, the bus will leave at 10 p.m. on its return trip to New-ark after the Festival of Lights tour.

Luminary tour set at Dawes Arboretum

The Dawes Arboretum will offer a luminary tour from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3.

Visitors will see 1,500 candle luminaries during the North End Auto Tour. Cocoa, a treat and family activities will be offered in the visitors center after the tour.

The event is free, but a non-perishable food or monetary donation for the Licking County Food Pantry is requested.

Greenery classes set at Dawes

Dawes Arboretum will offer three holiday workshops on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Participants who register for one of two Holiday Greenery Workshops will learn to create an arrangement of greens from the Dawes grounds to decorate a hearth or table. Session one will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m.; session two will be from noon to 2 p.m. Both will be held in the Visitors Center. The cost is $20 for Dawes members and $30 for nonmembers.

A class titled Holiday Decorations for Wildlife will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 11 in the Zand Education Center. Participants will create a wreath or swag for wildlife to enjoy. All materials will be provided: greens, unsalted popcorn and peanuts, cranberries, pine cones, peanut butter, birdseed, fruit slices and more. The cost is $20 for Dawes members and $30 for nonmembers.
