The United Way of Union County has produced a new resource guide to help residents challenged by the economic downturn.

The guide, available in hard copy or online, outlines steps families experiencing a financial crisis can take to try to stabilize their budget and obtain the help they need from community resources.

The guide contains tips for re-evaluating the family budget, how to look for a new job and a list of programs in the community that help provide basic needs.

"There are many people who are or will be experiencing financial challenges for the first time," said Shari Marsh, executive director of the United Way of Union County. "Many families are struggling to make ends meet -- and they don't know where they can turn for help."
