The village of Plain City is inviting those with the Christmas spirit to take part in its ninth annual Christmas Under the Clock event on Saturday.

This year's celebration will include a 2010 Winter Olympics performer, professional ice sculptor Greg Butauski of Rock On Ice Productions, according to tourism director Candace Watson.

"This 2010 Winter Olympic performer will create a unique ice sculpture and make something special for the kids as well," Watson said. "Rock On Ice caters to many Columbus area businesses such as the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Ohio State University, Cameron Mitchell restaurants and many other country clubs, caterers and hotels."

The Christmas Under the Clock event is free and open to the public, and begins at 5 p.m. with a tree-lighting ceremony and carolers in downtown Plain City. The celebration will continue through 9 p.m., concluding with a prize drawing for a $500 gift card at the Plain City Historical Society, 111 W. Main St.

Visitors completing prize drawing tickets at participating open house locations will be entered into the raffle; they need not be present at the time of the drawing to win, according to Watson. Visitors can also bring nonperishable food items for the Plain City Food Pantry, 156 W. Main St., for more chances to win.

The event will also include a gift basket auction, with proceeds assisting the Plain City Food Pantry and the Uptown Plain City Organization, and horse and tractor drawn wagon rides to have children's photos taken with Santa Claus.
