A few changes are in store for this year's talent show at Bunsold Middle School, but not in the level of talent itself.

Some staff members, including academic support Lois Everitt, have stepped forward to put on the show in place of music teacher Katherine Silcott, who stepped back this year because of her pregnancy.

Everitt said the proceeds from this year's event would, for the first time, benefit Relay For Life, an American Cancer Society program.

"We look at it almost like a service project," Everitt said.

A $5 admission fee will be charged, Everitt said, and the organizers are considering ways to have audience members vote for a people's-choice award via donation, with proceeds also going to Relay For Life.

Everitt also said this year's event has been scaled back to one night, with 18 acts that have been chosen through a live audition.

"We have singers, dancers, instrumental music, piano solos and even original songs that students will play on guitar and sing," she said.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, in the Bunsold Middle School auditorium, 14198 state Route 4, Marysville.
