* Advance Directives, 9 a.m. Dec. 16. Participants can get help completing documents that ensure medical care will be properly handled when they can no longer direct it. Attendees will appoint someone to oversee health care decisions. Completed documents may be kept; a copy will be on file at Memorial Hospital.

* Breastfeeding support group, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 19 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 14 and 28. Pregnant, breastfeeding or pumping mothers are invited to attend bimonthly meetings to learn proper technique, have questions answered, talk with other breastfeeding mothers and have their baby weighed. Sponsored by Memorial Hospital and the Union County Health Department.

* Breastfeeding, 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 13. A certified lactation consultant will teach the best techniques and provide helpful tips to assist both mother and child with breastfeeding. Support partners also are welcome. Cost is $20.

* Newborn care, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 14. An obstetrical nurse will provide information helpful for new parents, including tips on bathing, swaddling, diapering, car seat safety, what to expect at the first doctor's visit and how to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome. Cost is $20.

Adult walk-in clinics, 8 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Union County Health Department, 940 London Ave., Suite 1100. TB testing, blood pressure screenings and vaccinations for adults and children ages 12 years and older. Available vaccines include those providing protection against shingles, tetanus/pertussis (whooping cough), measles/mumps/rubella, Hepatitis A & B and varicella (chicken pox). No appointment needed. Sexual-health clinic, Tuesdays by appointment at the Union County Health Department. Services offered include pregnancy testing, free and confidential HIV testing and limited testing for sexually transmitted infections. Childhood immunization clinics, by appointment only, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. the second, fourth and fifth Wednesdays of each month, and 2 to 6 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Union County Health Department. Cost is $10 per dose, plus $20 for the visit. The Vaccines for Children program allows the health department to provide required vaccines for free or at reduced cost for children who are uninsured, underinsured or on Medicaid.
