After three years as girls golf coach at Marysville High School, Bill Romine has shifted his focus to building the girls tennis program.

Romine, who resigned as golf coach after last season, has replaced John Merriman as tennis coach. Merriman stepped down after three seasons and now will guide the first-year Bunsold Middle School club tennis program with Josh Huffman.

On the golf team, Romine, 45, coached his daughter, Emma, who graduated this year and will be a freshman golfer at Ohio Dominican.

Romine's younger daughter, Lydia, will be a junior tennis player at Marysville.

"I'm really excited about the position and really excited about being the coach there," Romine said. "It's going to be fun to coach my daughter and also the other girls on the team. I've enjoyed it so far. We have great girls. It's been a good transition so far."

Juliet Litzel, 42, has taken over for Romine as girls golf coach. She served as Bunsold's coach for two seasons and was the junior varsity coach the previous five seasons.

"I wanted to take the position and I feel like I'm the one left from our program from years ago," Litzel said. "I figured it was my time. We've built traditions, so I want to keep all that going. I love coaching and the girls are great."

Eli Morris will be the j.v. coach and Brock Cunningham will serve as middle school coach.

*The girls tennis program will hold a camp for boys and girls in grades 3-8 from 9 a.m. to noon July 26-28 at the high school. No experience is required. The deadline to register is Friday, July 15. For more information, contact coach Romine at ladymonarchtennis@gmail.com or wjromine@mevsd.us.
