The New Albany Women's Network (NAWN) held its ninth annual "An Evening in New Albany" on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Tartan East Golf Club.

More than 220 people attended.

Guests enjoyed music, entertainment, food and charitable giving. Proceeds benefited Lower Lights Christian Health Center in Franklinton and NAWN's Endowment Fund.

More than $35,000 was raised through the raffle, casino games and silent and live auctions, all of which will directly support the two organizations.

The NAWN Endowment Fund, established in 2003, will eventually grow into a charitable savings account that will generate investment income. The money will be used for making grants to causes that affect women and children.

New Albany resident Colleen Lora was recognized for design work last month in Las Vegas.

According to a news release, Lora received a second place award from national interior decorating franchiser Décor & You. The design was given for a Tuscan-style dining room Lora created for New Albany residents Bev and Bob Stonecypher.

Lora was also given the signature color award for a "mastery of sales and design," and an award for her on-going project at the Estates at the New Albany Clubhouse.
