The New Albany-Plain Local school board approved a contract for new superintendent April Domine at its Nov. 22 meeting.

Domine will earn an annual salary of $155,000 with benefits to which she will contribute. A current resident of Powell, she is required to move into the district, and her annual salary will increase to $160,000 annually when she does.

Domine's contract also stipulates her salary can be increased by 15 percent more per year if she achieves certain performance goals, said school board president Mark Ryan. Ryan said the goals for the incentive would be set annually by Domine and the board.

Her contract begins Jan. 1. The contract for Bill Reimer, the interim superintendent, expires Dec. 31.

Domine was chosen to succeed Steve Castle, who resigned June 8. The district worked with Columbus-based SC Search Consultants, which recruited Domine, who most recently was the senior director of performance management and leadership for Battelle For Kids.

Domine was superintendent for Big Walnut Local Schools from July 2006 to March 2009 and was director of continuous improvement and assistant curriculum director for Olentangy Local Schools for six years prior to that. She also has experience as an assistant principal and a teacher.
