Noah's of New Albany will fill that need when it opens Sept. 1.

Noah's, 175 E. Main St., will have a capacity of 500, though no more than 400 is best for a comfortable event, said Sarah Thomas, the events-venue director. The site includes parking for 100, and the Courtyard Columbus New Albany and Hampton Inn & Suites New Albany will provide shuttle service, she said.

The New Albany location is the 30th Noah's events venue in the nation and the second in Ohio, said Kirsten Mussi, vice president of public relations. The other Ohio venue is in Mentor, she said.

Mussi said Noah's officials researched demographics and the need for event spaces to determine that New Albany was the best location for another venue. A mix of mid-sized businesses and a thriving residential community are two ingredients they look for, she said.

"New Albany fits the bill perfectly, and we have been blown away by the warm reception we have received in the area," she said.

Mussi declined to share the project cost.

New Albany spokesman Scott McAfee said Noah's will fill a need in New Albany for a new conference center.

"With the growth in our business park, there is greater need for a venue for corporate events, and it will also help fill a void for those planning weddings," he said.

The project ties together the development in the village center and the New Albany International Business Park, McAfee said. The events venue also will support the city's hotels and introduce visitors who might visit more in the future, he said.

Construction began in February, Thomas said. Design and construction were completed in-house by Noah's personnel, she said. The completion date was originally projected to be Oct. 1, but was moved to Sept. 1.

The venue has an open vendor policy for catering, she said. Though the business' target market is weddings, space can rented for business events and other personal gatherings, she said.

"Anything that you need space for, we have," she said.

Thomas said she expects to have 50 weddings booked for the venue by the end of the month. Planned events also include a nonprofit gala and a New Albany Chamber of Commerce event in December.

Chamber director Cherie Nelson said the chamber decided to hold its annual meeting and Delta Awards luncheon at Noah's to introduce chamber members to the venue.

"There's nothing like it in New Albany," she said.

A grand opening for the facility is planned from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 17, Thomas said.
