Dr. Donna Violet, a veterinarian at the Animal Hospital of New Albany, recently was recognized for providing products and care for Schein, a puppy being raised by local volunteers to eventually serve as an assistance dog for someone with a disability.

Violet contributed to the puppy's health and development when she presented a Henry Schein Cares-Canine Companions Puppy Raiser Care Package to Schein's volunteer caretakers, Charlie and Sallie Carey of New Albany. The package contains items essential to caring for the puppy during her first 18 months of life.

The package is part of a program created by Canine Companions for Independence Inc.
