Taneisha Cordell of the New Albany High School girls track and field team is expected to sign a letter of intent Tuesday, April 25, to compete for the University of Miami (Fla.) track team.

"It just felt right," said Cordell, who also considered Illinois, LSU and Kentucky. "It was a hard decision, but with everything being equal Miami just had better weather."

Cordell, a three-time state qualifier, won the Division I state title in the 800 meters (2 minutes, 10.79 seconds) as a sophomore at Reynoldsburg.

Last year, she transferred to New Albany and advanced to state in the 800, but she was tripped during the race and did not finish.

Cordell was fourth at state in the 800 as a freshman (2:13.94).
