According to published reports, Northland High School senior Trey Burke has been named Ohio's Mr. Basketball by the Associated Press.
The 6-foot-1 guard averages 23.6 points, 6.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals and has the Vikings back in the Division I state tournament for the second time in three seasons.
Burke is one of only three players who never lost a City League game, along with former Northland teammates and 2010 graduates Jared Sullinger and J.D. Weatherspoon.
Led by Burke, who signed with Michigan last November, Northland is 25-1 and will play Garfield Heights in a state semifinal Friday, March 25, at Ohio State.
The Vikings captured the 2009 state title with Burke among the key players and were regional runners-up a year ago.
