Walter Woodard of the Tree of Life Christian School boys track and field team competed in the long jump in the Division III regional meet May 29 at Fairfield Union.

Woodard earned the regional berth by finishing third (19 feet, 5 1/4 inches) in the district 2 meet May 21 at Hamilton Township. The meet concluded May 25.

The top four finishers in each district event advanced to regional, which concludes Friday, May 31.

The top four finishers in each event at regional advance to the state meet June 7 and 8 at Ohio State.

League title in playfor baseball team

The baseball team completed a game against Gran-ville Christian on May 25 looking to secure a share of the MOCAL title with Fairfield Christian.

Tree of Life and visiting Granville Christian were tied at 6 on May 6 when the game was suspended after nine innings because of darkness.

The Trojans were 16-8 overall and 8-1 in the league. Fairfield Christian finished 9-1 in the MOCAL.

Seeded fourth in the Division IV district tournament, the Trojans defeated eighth-seeded Wellington 12-5 in the first round May 13 and fifth-seeded Fairfield Christian 5-0 in the second round May 15 behind a four-hitter from Christian Gilbert. He struck out 10 and walked three.

The Trojans lost to top-seeded Newark Catholic 16-0 in five innings in a district semifinal May 20 at Pickerington North.

Senior Donnie Tong (CF/P) was named Player of the Year in the MOCAL.

Gilbert and Joe Paliobagis (3B/P) were first-team all-league, Erick Boyer (2B/P) and Caleb Holt (1B) were second-team all-league and Matt Ihlenfield (OF) and Andy Johnson (SS/CF/P) were honorable mention.

Tong, Gilbert and Paliobagis were first-team all-district, Holt was second-team all-district and Boyer was honorable mention all-district.

"It's been a good year," coach Rick Parcher said. "We got through two rounds of the tournament, so we made it to the semis for the third year in a row, so that was nice."

Safrit earns honorfor softball team

The softball team finished 8-13 overall and 5-6 in the MOCAL behind champion Grove City Christian (11-1).

The ninth-seeded Trojans lost to eighth-seeded Morral Ridgedale 14-0 in five innings in the first round of the district tournament May 14.

Kaylea Safrit (2B) was first-team all-league, Lindsay Augustyniak (SS) and Kasey Ticknor (P) were second-team all-league and Morgan Pennington (3B) and Megan King (CF) were honorable mention.
