The DeSales High School baseball team's run toward its first Division II state tournament berth since 2012 ended resoundingly May 28.

Hamilton Badin scored seven runs in the first inning of the regional final at Mason and went on to run-rule the Stallions 10-0 in five innings. All of the Rams' runs were unearned.

DeSales, which had won 11 of its previous 12 games, finished 20-9. Badin improved to 21-11 and advanced to play Poland Seminary in a state semifinal June 2 at Huntington Park.

The Rams had only two hits in the first inning off Stallions starting pitcher Drew McLuckie, but McLuckie hit two batters, walked one and had four wild pitches.

Badin added two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth.
