A hired driver reported being robbed by a man who not only refused to pay the fare, but also punched him in the face and stole his $600 cellphone at 3:20 a.m. Dec. 11.

A hired driver reported being robbed by a man who not only refused to pay the fare, but also punched him in the face and stole his $600 cellphone at 3:20 a.m. Dec. 11.

The victim, 48, told Columbus police he drove his customer to an address in the 4900 block of Buck Thorn Lane and when he asked for payment was told the suspect had to go inside to get the money.

"The suspect came back outside and told the victim to leave; he wasn't going to pay him," according to the police report.

"Then the victim stated when he told the suspect he needed paid for the fare the suspect punched him several times causing a split lip and a lump on his left temple.

Then the victim said the suspect grabbed his phone and went back inside."

* Someone kicked open the front door of an apartment in the 5000 block of Godown Road according to a report filed at 2 p.m. Dec. 14.

The 27-year-old female resident said the break-in took place after 11 that morning.

A television set, two computers, a gaming system and games worth a combined total of $3,750 were reported stolen.

* A $5,000 man's watch and $3,100 worth of jeans were among a host of items stolen from a residence in the 5300 block of Stonemeadow Avenue during a burglary that took place between 6:30 a.m. and 8:50 p.m. Dec. 14.

The 45-year-old resident said other stolen items included a signed football, cologne, a television set and a video game system.

The combined value the man assigned to the items was $9,879.

* A 30-year-old Millridge Place resident said a burglar stolen, among other things, a $50 train set after breaking into his residence between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dec. 13.

Also stolen were television sets, a computer, a gaming system, games, makeup, a griddle and sneakers worth a total of combined total of $3,780.

* An 18-year-old woman summoned police to her Skyline Drive East apartment at 10:45 a.m. to say that more than four hours earlier her boyfriend "assaulted her several times, threatened to kill her, broke her phone, and caused damage to numerous walls and doors," according to a report.

She told police they have been dating for two months and did not live together.

Reports said she was referred to the Franklin County Prosecutor's office.

* Tools valued at $4,000 and a $30 box of ammunition were reported stolen Dec. 12 at 9:30 a.m. from a car parked in the 5000 block of Flynnhaven Court.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, said the vehicle was broken into after 11:30 the previous evening.
