Main Street Delaware has postponed its special "Harry Potter" costume party fund-raiser for one week because of recent hot weather.

Main Street Delaware has postponed its special "Harry Potter" costume party fund-raiser for one week because of recent hot weather.

Originally scheduled for July 22, the event now will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 29 at Ohio Wesleyan University's Slocum Hall, 75 S. Sandusky St., Delaware.

At the event, you will be sorted into your Hogwarts house, fitted for a wand, invited to participate in a "Harry Potter" character look-alike contest, treated Hogwarts-inspired food and drinks, and much more.

The fund-raiser is being held in the "Great Hall" at Ohio Wesleyan University, a room in historic Slocum Hall that features a 70-foot-by-20-foot leaded-glass ceiling.

Cost for the Harry Potter costume party is $25 per person with all proceeds benefiting Main Street Delaware, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to preserve and promote historic downtown Delaware.

The Friends of the new Orange branch of the Delaware County District Library will host their first "members only" Family Festival from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Orange library, 7171 Gooding Blvd., Delaware.

The event, sponsored by the Goddard School of Lewis Center, will feature games, crafts, entertainment, and refreshments.

Each child will receive a free book and other giveaways, as well as the chance to enter a bookmark design contest.

Accompanying adults will receive a free book light.
