The Olentangy Liberty High School girls lacrosse team lost to top-ranked and defending state champion Medina 11-6 on May 23 in a Division I North/Central regional final.

The visiting Patriots ended their season at 11-6.

The Bees, who improved to 13-0-2, led 7-4 at halftime.

"Medina is No. 1 in the state and they beat us by 11 (goals) last year," said coach Abby Osborn, whose team lost to the Bees 19-8 last season in a regional final. "We were within three (goals) until the very end of the game. My girls played so hard and were just awesome."

Senior attacker Eileen Barrett and sophomore attacker Dani Bursinger both scored twice for Liberty, and sophomore attacker Kelley Fitzgerald and sophomore midfielder Abbey Gay both had one goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Elise Miller had nine saves.
