Pickerington organizations have events from the theatrical to the fantastical planned for the first weekend in December.

As a result, area residents will have plenty of opportunities to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit that weekend, starting with breakfast with Santa on Dec. 6.

The annual breakfast is coordinated by the city's parks and recreation department and hosted by the Pickerington Senior Center. In addition to breakfast, the event includes a "secret Santa workshop," children's crafts, a bake sale, live entertainment and a visit from the famed jolly old elf himself.

There are three seatings -- at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. -- and each is limited to 150 participants. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the parks department office, 51 E. Columbus St., through Dec. 4. Advance ticket purchases are required.

Santa also can be spotted from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Pickerington Public Library. The free event will include stories around the Christmas tree, games, crafts and live music.

For those looking for a different sort of holiday inspiration, the Pickerington Lions Club will host its second Holiday Home Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour of six area homes, each decorated for the holidays, includes a log cabin, a Diyanni model home and a former BIA Parade of Homes participant.

Tickets for the tour are $10 and all proceeds benefit the club's efforts to prevent blindness worldwide. Tickets can be purchased at B.J's Bouquets, DaVinci's Market Place, Deblin Design, the Pickerington Senior Center, Embroidery Barn, from any Lions Club member or by calling 837-4217.

On Dec. 7, the festivities resume with the annual Victorian Holiday with Santa, sponsored by the Olde Pickerington Village Business Association.

The event will be held along Columbus street and starts at 1 p.m. Activities include:

Carriage rides from 2 to 5 p.m. The cost is the donation of an unwrapped toy or cash to the Violet Township Fire Department's "Toys for Needy Children."

Visits with Santa and children's activities from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Santa's Workshop, 27 Columbus St.

A holiday craft show and sale from 1 to 6:30 p.m. at the Towne Hall, 25 N. Center St.

Musical performances by the Key Club, Pickerington Satellite Choir, Eastside Vineyard Church and the Pickerington Community Choir.

A children's story time and refreshments at the Pickerington-Violet Township Historical Society.

The city tree-lighting at 6 p.m. at Gazebo Park.

Also, from 4 to 6 p.m. the Pickerington Food Pantry, located in the lower level of the Historical Society, will be accepting donations.
